In the Hindu system great
importance is attached to the name of an individual. This naturally leads
to the question of which name? Sometimes, a person has two or three names.
Under such circumstances, which one is to be regarded as his name for
purpose of prognostication? The Hindu texts have discussed this question
and formulated the answer. Assume that twenty or thirty persons are sleeping
in a hall, and the name of an individual, who is also amongst the persons
sleeping in the hall, is called out. The individual who wakes up or responds
is the one whose real name has been called out.
It is generally found that when several persons are sleeping, the one
whose name is called out, wakes up and not the others. This is so because
even when a person is sleeping, a part of his mind, the subconscious,
is awake and alert and responds to the call of his name.
According to western scholars, when a person has two or three names- the
Chiristian name, the surname and the middle name or the nick name- the
name by which he is commonly known, should be used for purposes of numerology.
For example, take the names of the two former Prime Ministers of England,
Lloyed George and Baldwin. Lloyed Geroge was always spoken of as Lloyed
Geroge and not as Lloyd or George. The other Prime Minister was always
spoken of as Baldwin. For the purposes of numerology, therefore, his name
would be taken as Baldwin, with no Christian name added to it.
Let us take a few important Indian names- Indira Gandhi, Morarji Desai,
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. These individuals were
popularly or better known as Indira Gandhi, Morarji, Mahatma Gandhi and
Jawaharlal- and these would be the names we would consider for numerological
purpose.
Now we shall show why we have introduced the subject of the numerical
values of letters. This is with a two-fold purposes.
1. It is better if the numerical value of the name, arrived at by adding
the individual numerical values of the letters constituting the name,
is in harmony with the birth date or the destiny number, as explained
in the earlier chapter.
2. The significance of certain numbers beyond 9 have been dealt with in
this chapter. If the numerical value of the name corresponds to a number
which has unfavourable significance, the name should be altered or the
value changed. This can be done by modifying the spelling of the name
or adding an innocuous letter, so that its numerical value corresponds
to a good number. Numbers which vibrate with good potentialities and others
which are not lucky, will be evident by going through significance of numbers
.
